Project Description

THE BRIEF

Our clients lived in their property for a few years and approached KLC Architects from a recommendation. Their objective was to create an additional bedroom and shower in their loft space so that they could enjoy their growing family life.

The plan was to open up the entire loft space, creating a master-suite in the roof and provide a Juliette balcony for our client to achieve maximum visual presence to the rear garden.

THE CHALLENGE

To provide our clients with the space they envisioned, we resorted to the low risk planning application process with Richmond Council which would not only have extended outwards to the rear but also have velux rooflights to the front. Our clients also wanted to reconfigure the first floor bathroom area to combine the W/C and Bathroom. The challenge was also to add a new staircase to the loft with good use of space and meeting Building Regulations requirements.

THE OUTCOME

We completely dominated the loft extension and the client was able to achieve the master bedroom they envisioned.

While the extensions provided a additional increase in interior space, they also benefitted to convert one of the bedrooms on the first floor to a guest room used by their family member and friends during visits.
