The brief
The client’s vision was to create a sophisticated family home that honors the traditional Georgian style while integrating modern, flexible living spaces. The new design needed to respect the historic character of the area and Green Belt planning policies, while offering spacious, light-filled interiors and an updated garden layout.
Working within the constraints of a Green Belt site required careful planning to balance architectural authenticity with modern functionality. The challenge was to design a home that would feel historically appropriate from the street, yet deliver a fresh, contemporary living environment internally. The client also sought flexibility, exploring both options to extend the current house or undertake a complete rebuild.
The proposed design seamlessly marries classic Georgian architecture with sleek modern interiors. The exterior will feature traditional materials and proportions, ensuring the house sits harmoniously within the neighborhood. Meanwhile, the interior and garden will showcase clean lines, open spaces, and contemporary detailing, creating a practical and stylish family home that will evolve with the client’s needs.

House Extension in Virginia Water

Our clients wanted the best of both worlds for their new home located on a Green Belt site. They are exploring options to either extend the existing property or demolish and rebuild it as a Georgian-style mansion. The design aims to combine the timeless elegance of Georgian architecture with the practicality and versatility of modern home design. Externally, the house will blend seamlessly into its surroundings, making it almost impossible to tell it isn’t an original build. Inside, the home and garden will embrace a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
