The brief
The client’s primary goal was to expand and modernize the rear of their home, creating a more spacious, light-filled kitchen, utility, and dining area, while incorporating a convenient cloakroom on the ground floor. The project also required management of party wall agreements due to the close proximity of neighboring properties.
The challenge
The primary challenge was to extend and modernize the property while working within the constraints of a tight urban site with close neighbouring boundaries. Managing the Party Wall process was essential to ensure smooth relations and legal compliance with adjacent homeowners.
Additionally, integrating the new cloakroom and expanding the kitchen and utility spaces had to be carefully designed to maximize natural light and flow without compromising the character of the existing home. Balancing traditional materials and construction techniques with contemporary design requirements also required close coordination with specialist contractors.
The outcome
In collaboration with expert engineers, we designed and rebuilt the side extension, efficiently administering the Party Wall Services throughout the process.
Specialist contractors and traditional materials were used to connect the dining, kitchen, and utility rooms into a single, bright, and open-plan space. The kitchen design was provided by Day True, a trusted partner on several of our residential projects.
The extension and renovation works are currently underway and scheduled for completion in January 2021.
